Our process

Slow, intentional making from our Portland studio.

Ember & Oak began with a simple belief: candles should be as thoughtful as the homes they warm. We hand-pour soy wax in small batches, blend natural fragrances, and let each vessel cure slowly for a clean, steady burn that feels unrushed and personal.

Materials

Soy wax + natural oils

Clean-burning soy wax, cotton wicks, and botanical fragrances are chosen for warmth without overwhelm.

Small batches

Hand-poured in Portland

We pour, label, and box each candle by hand, honoring the pace of careful craftsmanship.

Finish

A slow, steady burn

Cured for depth and balance, each candle is tested for an even melt pool and a gentle, lingering scent.

From pour to package

Our studio smells of cedar, smoke, and fig as each batch cools. We trim wicks, smooth labels, and wrap every candle like a gift meant to be kept.

Our process

Small batches, crafted by hand from the first pour to the final wrap.

Each candle is made in our Portland studio with a slow, intentional rhythm. We blend natural fragrances, pour by hand, and let every vessel cure before it’s polished and packed for its new home.

  1. 01

    Scent blending

We balance essential oils and clean fragrance notes until each blend feels warm, grounded, and true to its story.

  2. 02

    Hand pouring

Soy wax is warmed and poured slowly to keep the surface smooth and the burn even.

  3. 03

    Curing time

We let each candle rest to deepen scent throw and ensure a clean, steady flame.

  4. 04

    Finishing touches

Wicks are trimmed, vessels polished, and labels hand-applied for a clean, timeless look.

  5. 05

    Packaging

Each candle is wrapped in recycled paper and boxed with care, ready for gifting or quiet evenings at home.

Studio note

We make no more than 60 candles per batch, ensuring every vessel gets the attention it deserves.
